I get a Fatal Error #3 message, what do I do?

Follow these instructions to get the Beta Brite Prism Messaging Software properly installed and running.

  1. Disconnect power from the Beta Brite Prism sign.
  2. Uninstall the Beta Brite Prism Messaging Software:
    1. At your computer, open the Control Panel.

    2. Double-click Add or remove programs.

    3. In the Currently Installed Programs list, click Beta Brite Prism Messaging Software.

    4. Click the Change/Remove button.
    5. In the InstallShield Wizard window, select the Remove option and click Next.

    6. At the prompt, select Yes.

    7. When the uninstallation is complete, close the Add or Remove Programs window and the Control Panel window.
  3. Delete the Editor.ini file:
    1. On your desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.

    2. If you used the default installation location, navigate to the C:\Program Files\Beta Brite Prism Messaging Software folder. Otherwise, navigate to the installed location.

    3. Select the Editor.ini file (this may appear as only "Editor") and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
    4. Click OK to confirm deleting the file.

    5. Close the My Computer window.
  4. Reinstall the Beta Brite Messaging Software.
  5. Regardless of whether the sign is connected to your computer, the following message appears:
    USB error message
    Click OK.
  6. Reconnect power to the Beta Brite Prism sign.
  7. Go to your Start menu and select Beta Brite Prism Messaging Software.
    The software will now work properly and be able to send messages to your sign.
